A short drive to great food (Excerpt
from Getto's Top 30)
- Dennis Getto
The Top 30 will tell you where to get a great meal in the
Milwaukee area. But beyond Milwaukee and its close suburbs,
the number of good restaurants grows steadily.
Depending on where you live, some of these places might
not be far away. But even if they are, all are worth the
drive.

Sebastian's Offers Great Seafood and More
- Dennis Getto
I was really impressed when a friend and I stopped in for
dinner on a crisp spring evening in April. Seated at an attractively
set table with fresh flowers, our entrees were exquisite.
Seafood's a specialty and the most impressive was sea bass,
covered with finely chopped leeks, cilantro, butter and shallots,
then wrapped in a banana leaf. A fresh sweet sauce of red
peppers accented it nicely.
And I also appreciated the fact that our server didn't demand
that we order the fish rare (as is the fashion these days).
My dining companion wanted the tuna completely cooked, so
she ordered it well done. The luscious tuna steak arrived
completely cooked, but not at all dry.
Sebastian's doesn't bill itself as a steakhouse, but its 13
ounce ribeye matched those that I've eaten at the stop spots
in Milwaukee.
Portabella mushroom ravioli was also a masterpiece - six handmade
dumplings were filled with a rich mushroom and cheese filling,
then covered with a classic Italian sage butter sauce.
This restaurant is worth a detour off Interstate 94. Exit
at 7 Mile Road and head east to Highway 32. Turn south and
the restaurant will be a few miles ahead on the left. |

Sebastian's
- Willard Romantini
Proudly Featured on Always in Good Taste
Sebastian's located on Hwy 32 in Racine, offers a fine
selection of Chef prepared entrees that will please the most
discriminating diner. The menu is a mix of traditional and
New Age fare. Those familiar with Mike and Anna's will be
pleased to know that Chef and owner Scott Sebastian worked
there for several years and has brought that experience to
Sebastian's. |
